Delores Lenz

Delores Lenz, 90, Breckenridge, MN passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Pioneer Senior Cottages in Breckenridge. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 27, at 11 AM at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Dale Lagodinski as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Mooreton, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to CHI St. Francis Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Delores was born on May 22, 1925 in Mantador, ND to Leo and Anna (Reiland) Puetz. She grew up on the family farm and attended school in Mantador. She spent a short time working in Chicago and returned to her family.

Delores was united in marriage to Sylvester "Bud" Lenz at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton on November 14, 1945. They settled on the Lenz family farm near Mooreton, ND and raised one son and two daughters where she enjoyed making the family favorites and baked goodies. They lived on the farm until they moved to Wahpeton in July of 1989. On March 6, 2001, Bud passed away and Delores continued to live in Wahpeton until 2008 when she became a resident of Pioneer Senior Cottages in Breckenridge, MN.

Delores was a current member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mooreton where she was active in the Christian Mothers and the Ladies Guild and volunteered in many capacities. Delores was also known to walk a lot and participated in many of the St. Francis Wellness Walks where she won awards as the oldest walker. When she came to the Pioneer Cottages she became known as the "puzzle lady" and completed over 500 puzzles.

Delores is survived by her son, Dennis (Nadene) Lenz, Wahpeton, ND; her daughters, Shirley (Alan) Spelhaug, West Salem, WI, Joyce Lenz, Alexandria, MN; her six grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa) Lenz, Rachelle Lenz, Rich (Catherine) Spelhaug, Lisa (Jay) Daly, Derek (Melanie) Marohl, Jared Marohl; her six great grandchildren, Hayley Lenz, Sydney Lenz, Ethan Lenz, Joseph Daly, Sarah Daly, and Lucas Spelhaug; her brother, Norbert Puetz, Seattle, WA; her sister, Rose Ann Belunas, Milwaukee, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, her parents, Leo and Anna Puetz, her brother, Alphonse Puetz, and her sisters, Madelia Leske, and Regina Haberman.
