Donald Pausch

Donald J. Pausch, 90, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 19, 10:30 am, at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Donald John Pausch was born November 23, 1924, near Mantador, ND, the son of Henry and Theresa (Krump) Pausch. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. He was united in marriage to Margaret Formaneck on August 27, 1946, at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, Wahpeton. The couple farmed in Summit Township where they raised their three children. Don farmed and did custom harvesting for a number of years. The couple spent many winters in Arizona. They entered Sienna Court in Wahpeton December of 2013.

Don was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He had belonged to Eagles, Elks and Richland County Farm Bureau. He loved to fish, especially his summer trips to Canada.

Don is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret, Wahpeton; his son and daughter, Merlyn (Becky) Pausch, rural Wahpeton; and Marlene Ells, Gackle, ND; a daughter-in-law, Karen Pausch, Wahpeton; seven grandchildren: Janel (Cory) Peplinski, Kimberly (Brock) Lorenzetti, Kyle (Melissa) Pausch, Corey (Stephanie) Pausch, Jesse (Tori) Pausch, Dana (Nicole) Pausch, Taylor (Stephanie Basol) Ells; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, Kathy Pausch and Alice Pausch.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Fred, three brothers: Gerald, Harold and Virgil Pausch; three sisters, Betty Leinen, Rita Leinen, and Joan Thiel.
