Donald C. Puetz, 83, Breckenridge , MN , formerly of Wyndmere , ND , died Monday, January 19, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home, Breckenridge. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wyndmere with Rev. Leonard Loegering as Celebrant. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service all at Willow Creek Chapel (920 3 rd Ave N), Wahpeton; also, visitation Thursday one hour prior to time of service at the church. Military Honors will be conducted by the Wyndmere American Legion Brown-Nelson Post No. 153 & “Sons of American Legion” and the Barney VFW Memorial Post No. 9366. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery , Wyndmere , ND .





Donald Cletus Puetz was born May 31, 1925, to Nickolas and Annie (Soehner) Puetz on their farm near Wyndmere , ND . He graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1943. He served in the US Army from March 16, 1945 until his honorable discharge on November 27, 1946. He received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal ( Japan ) Victory Medal. After his tour of duty he returned to operate the family farm.





On November 7, 1950, he married Mary A. Enderle at St. Galls Catholic Church, Tintah , MN . Donald farmed and was a corn dealer for the Trojan/Keltgen Seed Company. His wife, Mary died on December 2, 2006. Don entered St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home on November 1, 2006.





Don was a member of the member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wyndmere American Legion, and Barney VFW. He enjoyed going to Mesa , AZ for the winter, golfing, playing cards, and fishing.





He is survived by his son, 3 daughters, Gregory (Laureen) Puetz, Wyndmere; three daughters: Carol Puetz, Spokane, WA; Julie (Allen) Rude, Watertown, SD, Sandra (Roger) Torell, Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and his sister Ethel Little of Wahpeton.





Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; and his brother, Arnold.
