Donna Stai

Donna Stai, 82, Wyndmere, ND, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 AM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Donna was born on January 12, 1933 in Wahpeton, ND to Clarence and Olga (Kath) Donley. She grew up and attended school in Doran, MN and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Strom in 1951 in Campbell, MN. They made their home in Doran for ten years before moving to Wahpeton. She worked at St. Francis Hospital for several years in the business office.

For a short time, Donna moved her family to Minneapolis, MN and Fargo, ND before settling in Wyndmere, ND with Raymond Stai. Donna worked as a bookkeeper at Brackin Chevrolet in Lidgerwood, ND and Brooks Motors in Sisseton, SD. Ray passed away in 1982 and Donna continued to live in Wyndmere until 1990 when she moved to Lidgerwood, ND to be with her special companion of over thirty years, Arny Oland. Arny passed away in 2014, and Donna returned to Wyndmere where she lived to the present day.

Donna is a member of Wyndmere Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, square dancing, doing crossword puzzles, watching the MN Twins, and very much loved to camp at Rollag, Fort Ransom, and especially Silver Lake near Rutland, ND. She loved to spend time with her family and also was fond of her pets over the years.

Donna is survived by her children, Pam (Tom) Field, Longville, MN and their children Chris and Jeremy, Cindy (Ron) Stai, Fargo, ND and their children Todd, Daniel, Missy, Josh and Matt, Tim (Kathy) Strom, Longmont, CO and their son Jeremiah, Wendy (Randy) Johnson, Detroit Lakes, MN and their children Tara, Kari and Jesse, Heidi (Rick) Foertsch, Wyndmere, ND and their children Marley, Nicholas and Luke; her fourteen great-grandchildren; her great-great granddaughter; and Arny Oland's family, who became like her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray Stai, and her special companion, Arny Oland.
