Doris Strand

Doris Ilene Rosilia Boumont Anderson Strand celebrated her homecoming with Jesus in Heaven on August 10, 2015 at the CHI St. Francis Healthcare Campus. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 14 at 11:00 A.M. at the Valley Christian Church, Breckenridge, MN with Rev. David Kuhfal officiating. Visitation will be held at the Church on Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service and also visitation with the family Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 A.M. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, North Dakota.
Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born December 26, 1923 in Brushvale, MN, to Achille (Archie) and Hilda (Carlson) Boumont. Doris grew up attending Wahpeton Schools, NDSCS, and Northwest Bible College.
She cared for her father and brothers for years after her mother's early passing.
Doris married Stephen Anderson April 18, 1952, in Christine, ND. After his death in 1956, she returned to Wahpeton with her son Curt and lived with her father Archie until his death in 1983. Doris married John Strand March 15, 1963. They resided in Wahpeton and had a daughter Linda.
Doris taught religious classes at United Tribes School for 25 years and held Bible studies at the Leach Home. She was very active in the Church of God teaching Bible classes, doing women's ministry, and serving as treasurer for over 60 years. Doris also owned and operated Newcomers Welcome Service in Wahpeton and Breckenridge for over 20 years.
Doris's great joy was entertaining guests, especially during the holidays. She loved to bake cookies, buns, and caramel rolls and gave them away by the dozens. She also gardened, canned fruit and vegetables, and was noted for her dill and beet pickles. Her home was open to all- hospitality was her God-given gift.
Doris is survived by brother Allen (Darlene) Boumont, Valley City, ND; her son Curt (Jody) Anderson, West Fargo, ND; daughter Linda (Lane) Lavender, Plainfield, CT; grandchildren Steven, Brandon, and Brianne Anderson, and Jesse, John, and Joshua Lavender; great-grandson Dylan Anderson; and countless dear family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, brothers Ernest and Dennis Boumont, and a grandson Nathan Anderson.
