Dorothy Jean Veflin was born January 10, 1932, in Hankinson, ND, to Chris and Clara (Bieto) Veflin. She grew up in the New Effington area, from where she graduated high school.
On November 8, 1952, she married Donald Miller, and they made their home near Tyler, ND, where they farmed. The couple was blessed with three children, Scott, Cindy, and Tim.
Dorothy was a great baker and loved cooking for everyone. She would make huge meals for not only her family, but for the hired men as well. She was an entertainer, and loved the color red. Her home was always decorated for the different seasons and holidays, especially Christmas. She loved to gather for coffee, serving it in red mugs, always accented with a pretty little napkin. She was the true “hostess with the mostest”.
Dorothy was a giver. Whenever she would take a trip, she made sure she came back with a gift for everyone. When invited over to someone’s home for coffee, she would bring the hostess a gift for her appreciation. Dorothy loved to laugh, and she had a great sense of humor. She always kept up with her grandchildren’s activities, cutting the story out of the paper, and making sure it was on her refrigerator.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Scott (Liz) Miller, Tyler, ND, Cindy (Allen) Fugere, Estelline, SD, Tim (Kelly) Miller, Tyler, ND; eight grandchildren, Josh (Megan) Miller, Detroit Lakes, MN, Justin (Lindsay) Miller, Tyler, ND, Jayce (Jordanna) Miller, Wahpeton, ND, Nicole (Jess) Freesemann, Sioux Falls, SD, Lindsey (Landon) Vetter, Castlewood, SD, Corey Fugere (fiancée Megan), Estelline, SD, Tyler Miller, Wahpeton, ND, Kelsey (Tyler) Kent, Wahpeton, ND; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Inez Ellingson, New Effington, SD; sister-in-law, Irene Staack, Boise, ID; and her special friend, Madeline Miller, Wahpeton, ND.
