Earl Vosberg

June 5, 1920 — February 6, 2008

Earl "Bud" Vosberg, 87, Wyndmere, ND, died Wednesday morning, February 6, 2008, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Home, Breckenridge, MN under the loving care of Riveredge Hospice and his family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9 at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney, ND with Rev. Morris W. Stephens, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney; also, visitation from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be held at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere. Military Honors will be conducted by the Wyndmere American Legion Brown-Nelson Post No. 153 & "Sons of the American Legion".



Earl "Bud" Malcolm Vosberg was born June 5, 1920, on the family farm in Danton Township, rural Wyndmere, to George D. and Ethel (Sargeant) Vosberg, the 2nd of 4 children. Earl grew up on the farm and received his education at Danton School No. 2. He served with the U. S. Army from 1942 thru 1945, attached to the 122nd Signal Radio Intelligence Company as a radio operator in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations in Africa and Italy.



Earl was united in marriage to Ione Miller on January 25, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Tyler, ND. They actively farmed in Danton Township until retirement in 1982; at which time they moved into Wyndmere. He continued to assist on the family farm until his health failed. Earl and Ione enjoyed traveling and spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed square and round dancing and playing cards with friends. Bud also enjoyed woodworking. Bud served on the Danton township school board, was Danton Township assessor, and served on the financial board and was a trustee at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney.



He is survived by his wife, Ione, of 62 years; 3 sons, Gordon Vosberg, Vance (Georgia) Vosberg, Wyndmere, Traill (Dawn) Vosberg, Fergus Falls, MN; 3 daughters, Vernette (Maurice) Houck, Covington, Louisiana, Verdelle (Michael) Stinar, Richville, MN, Gail Gerrich, Fargo, ND; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Krogsgaard and Carol Vosberg, Page, ND.



He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Lawrence.
