September 3, 1915 — March 8, 2015

Edna Louise Dahlman, Breckenridge, MN, formerly Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at CHI St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 13, at 11:00 AM at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Jen Tyler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere, ND. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Edna was born on September 3, 1915 to George and Louise (McMonagle) Ehlers on the family farm in Antelope Township, near Mooreton, ND. She attended and graduated from Antelope Consolidated High School. She also attended NDSCS and Dakota Business College and for eight years she worked various secretarial jobs in Wyndmere, ND.

On December 26, 1942 Edna was united in marriage to Arnold Dahlman at the Breckenridge Methodist Church parsonage. Arnold was a Section Foreman for the Northern Pacific Railroad so his job took them to Pembina, ND and Ulen, MN before moving to Wahpeton, ND. Edna worked for Home Mutual/Art Lee Insurance Agency as a secretary. Then for a number of years she worked as the Executive Secretary for Home Mutual Insurance, and continued in that position after Arnold died in 1979 until she retired in 1984. She continued to live in Wahpeton until she moved to CHI St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN four years ago.

Edna was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Society, taught Sunday school and made crafts for the annual bazaar. She also taught Sunday school at the former Wahpeton Indian School. She was a lifetime member of the Richland County Historical Society where she served on the Museum board and was Secretary/Treasurer for a number of years.

Edna enjoyed doing genealogy and made a good framework for the later generations to pick up. She also enjoyed flowers, working in her rose garden, reading, collecting bells and spoons and especially loved to go to family gatherings with her family.

Edna is survived by her son, Alan (Judy) Dahlman; her grandson, James (Nicole) Dahlman and their children, Mark James and Jack Ronald; her granddaughter, Carolyn Dahlman; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold, her sisters, Adele, Ethel, Ruby, Anne, and Myrtle, her brothers, Roy and Dale, two nephews and one niece.
