ElWayne ‘Butch’ E. Buchholz, 69, Wyndmere , ND , died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus-Hospital, Breckenridge , MN . Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 24 at Peace Lutheran Church , Barney , ND with Rev. Morris W. Stephens, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton; also, visitation Monday 1 hour prior to time of service at the church. Interment will be held at Peace Lutheran Cemetery , Barney.





ElWayne Edwin Buchholz was born December 3, 1939, at Breckenridge , MN to Edward and Lorraine (Baumann) Buchholz. He was baptized on December 24, 1939, by Rev. Harry E. Wians and confirmed on June 27, 1954, by Rev. John B. Nieman both at Peace Lutheran Church . He received his formal education at Wyndmere Public School . He then farmed with his father. and then worked ND road construction and in the oil fields for a short time. His father became ill and he returned to the farm and also worked in an elevator. His father died in 1965 and he ran the family farm until 1968 when he operated Buchholz Trucking and hauled grain. In 1989 he purchased a bar in Wyndmere and renamed it “Butch’s Bar and Lounge” and retired from the business in 2008.





He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church ; enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, deer hunting; enjoyed special time with his nieces, nephews, and their children; and visiting his many friends.





Butch is survived by his Mother, Lorraine B. Davis, Wyndmere; 2 sisters, Barbara Ann (Thomas L.) Johnson, Williston, ND, Sharon (Duane) Orth, Gwinner, ND; 1 brother, Arlin (Harriet) Buchholz, Wyndmere, ND; brother-in-law, Bruce (DanaSue) Busch, Pelican Rapids, MN; many nieces and nephews; and Butch’s cousins who are his extended brothers and sisters.





He was preceded in death by his father, Edward R.; his sister, Janice Faith Busch; nephew, Jason Dean Orth; and his step-father, Lavern ‘Buzz’ Davis .
