Erland Hansen

Erland H. Hansen, 81, Wahpeton, ND, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN.  Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2018 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mark Manning officiating.  Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Erland Hayes Hansen was born March 3, 1937 in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of Eubert and Martha (Hayes) Hansen. Erland attended Breckenridge High School, graduating in 1955.  He entered the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Coral Sea.  Upon his return, he began his career in electrical construction and contracting, working for Hansen Construction, Breckenridge Electric, Minn-Dak, Hansen Electric and The Circle of Nations.

Erland married Christine “Kitty” Hansen on October 14, 1961.  He was an active member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church.  Erland enjoyed teasing his grandchildren, riding his bike and tending to his yard.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always good for a story or two.

Erland is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christine “Kitty”; his son, Mark (Mary) Hansen, Eagan MN, his daughter, Renee (Rick) Anderson, St. Cloud, MN; and his seven grandchildren, Jenna, Katie, Jake, Josie, James, Cade and Claire.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eubert and Martha Hansen; and his brothers, Bob and Bud Hansen.
