EvaLou S. Stickland

EvaLou Sophie Stickland “Toddy”, 84, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, surrounded by family.  There will be a private family service at a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

EvaLou Sophie Palmer, or “Toddy”, as everyone knew her, was born on February 2, 1939, to Austin and Marion (Jones) Palmer in Beardsley, Minnesota.  She was the 5^th of 9 children. 

In June 1959, she was united in marriage to Larry W. Stickland of Sisseton, South Dakota.  They farmed in the Sisseton are for many years, moving to Watertown, SD, after retirement. The couple was blessed with 5 children, Larry Jr., Pamela, Billy, Ricky, and Marvin. 

Evalou didn’t have an easy life, which made her a very tough, strong lady.  She taught her children and grandchildren work ethics that would last them forever.  

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Holte, Wahpeton, ND; son, Billy (Deb) Stickland, Sisseton, SD; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. 

EvaLou was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Marion; husband, Larry; sons, Larry Jr., Ricky, and Marvin; and great-grandson, Whylix.

As per EvaLou’s wishes, a celebration of life will be at a later date.
