Francis was born June 1st, 1951, in Breckenridge, MN. The son of Joseph and Gertrude (McClintick) Mohr. He grew up on the family farm near Great Bend, ND. Francis attended school in his early grades at St. Francis Academy in Hankinson, ND, and then at a country school in Summit Township. Francis and his brother, Joseph, had many funny stories to tell about their shenanigans at school.
After finishing high school in Wahpeton, Francis worked for many years for M & M Farms until he became disabled from cancer. The cancer left him blind in one eye and unable to see clearly out of his other eye. Even with his poor eyesight, Francis helped his brother, Joseph, with the repair of small engines. He continued helping friends and neighbors with needed repairs up until his passing.
Francis was a very simple man who was happy with the little that he had. He enjoyed a game of baseball and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, watching every televised game. When he was unable to watch the game, Francis made sure to listen to it on the radio. Every spring, he enjoyed planting a very large garden and canning the vegetables in the fall. Francis had a very good memory; he was able to recall dates and unusual events, everyone would turn to him when in doubt. Remembering loved ones that passed away, Francis would light a candle every year in their memory.
Francis is survived by brothers: Tony (Lettie) Mohr, Wahpeton, ND; Gregory Mohr, Wahpeton, ND; Sisters; Josephine (Bud) Edmisson, Blackwell, OK; Mary Jane (Francis) Schanilec, Grand Forks, ND; Agnes (Vincent) Dobler, Breckenridge, MN; Brother-in-law John Korinek; Sister-in-law, Lee Mohr; nieces, nephews and cousins.
