Gloria Geldersma

Gloria Jean Geldersma, 70, Wyndmere, ND was called home to be with Jesus on November 25, 2015 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN after her courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, children, and many other family members. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 28, at 11:00 AM at the Wyndmere United Methodist Church, Wyndmere, ND with Pastor Michael Ward officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at the Wyndmere United Methodist Church. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Gloria was born on September 14, 1945 in Breckenridge, MN. She was the eldest of six children of Lester and Virginia (Nelson) Lehmann. Gloria was raised in White Rock and Rosholt, SD and Fairmount, ND where she graduated in 1964.

Gloria married Charles "Charlie" G. Johnson on June 19, 1968. They lived in Wyndmere, ND where they raised their four children. Gloria was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. After the death of Charlie, she worked as a custodian for many years at Wyndmere Public School, where she enjoyed getting to know the students and faculty.

On July 30, 1994 she married Robert Geldersma and continued to reside in Wyndmere, ND.

Gloria was very active in the Wyndmere Jaycettes. She devoted many hours in the American Legion Auxiliary and serving as the president of the United Methodist Women. She relished Birthday Club, mornings socializing with the "ladies" over coffee, playing cards, listening to the police scanner, and collecting souvenir spoons. She enjoyed her flower gardens and feeding the birds. She also looked forward to her yearly vacations with her husband Robert. She adored her grandchildren immensely as she took great interest in their respective activities.

Gloria will be missed by her husband Robert of 21 years; her children, Shelia (Paul) Shepherd, Paynesville, MN, Dean (Sara) Johnson, South Elgin, IL, Brenda (Tyler) Hasse, Fargo, ND, Samantha (David) Sokolofsky, Mandan, ND, Irl (Cheryl) Johnson, Salina, KS; her 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy (Joseph) Neiber, Geneseo, ND, Connie (John) Larson, Abercrombie, ND, Debra (Ken) Stevens, Wyndmere, ND; brother James (Amy) Lehmann, Abercrombie, ND; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie, parents, Lester and Virginia, brother, Clayton "Butch" Lehmann, an infant son, "Baby Boy" Johnson, a niece Sheryl Neiber, and several aunts and uncles.
