Gloria Schlotfeldt was born February 17, 1932, to Gilbert & Gladyce (Hanson) Schlotfeldt. Born in Enderlin, in the home of her maternal grandparents, Christian and Ida Hanson, Gloria grew up in and around Wyndmere. She attended school in Wyndmere for all but two years of her education - her 6th grade year was spent in Kennewick, WA, while her father worked supporting the war effort, and her 8th grade year, when she spent time in classrooms in Wyndmere, Kindred and Milnor. She was a 1950 graduate of Wyndmere High School.
Gloria married DuWayne Simdorn on November 28, 1952, on a windy but sunny day. The couple lived with DuWayne's family for the first several years of their marriage, before moving with their two children into Lidgerwood in 1958. In 1971, they moved to rural Wyndmere, where they remained until DuWayne's death. Gloria resided in Wyndmere from 2000 until her death.
Gloria was an active member of her community, spending over 20 years as the leader of the Liberty Belles 4H club and a member of the Liberty Grove Homemakers. She volunteered with the Lutheran Women's Missionary League through Peace Lutheran Church in Barney. She was also a member of the Wyndmere Birthday Club. Gloria enjoyed dancing, polka music, sewing, card games with friends and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gib and Gladyce Schlotfeldt; a sister, Lila Schlotfeldt; her husband, DuWayne Simdorn; a son, Randy Simdorn; three stillborn children and one infant son, Ricky.
