Grace Carey

Grace Carey, 97, Wahpeton, ND, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at St. Catherine’s Living Center , Wahpeton. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 11 at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, with Rev. Kathryn Rothman, Bethel Lutheran Church, officiating. There will be visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring at CZJB National Bohemian Cemetery , Lidgerwood , ND .

Grace was born September 29, 1912, at Delamere , ND , the daughter of Fredjit and Minnie (Johnson) Rasmussen. She grew up north of Lidgerwood and attended school near Delamere. She married Claude Carey in Wahpeton on November 23, 1937 and lived and worked on the Carey farm north of Lidgerwood. Claude passed away in 1979. Grace resided Wahpeton after his death and entered St. Catherine’s Living Center in 2006.

Grace enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter: Donald (Amy) Carey, Fargo , ND ; Ronald (Linda) Carey, Fergus Falls , MN ; and Jean ( Vernon ) Krause, Wahpeton; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
