Hye Yon “Lee” Mohr passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at Parkside Lutheran Nursing Home in Lisbon, North Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton at 11 AM. Visitation will take place one hour prior.
Lee was born on November 6, 1944, in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She immigrated to the United States in 1967 and, in 1969, married the love of her life, Jerome Mohr, in El Paso, Texas, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Jerome brought Lee to his family’s farm near Great Bend, North Dakota, before returning to complete his military service. He was honorably discharged in 1971, after which the couple settled in a nearby home where Jerome worked for M&M Farms.
In February of 1979, Lee and Jerome adopted their daughter, Jeanie. Lee devoted herself to being a homemaker and was a loving babysitter to many children from surrounding farms. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and cooking her cherished Korean dishes, and she was especially known for her kimchi and sweet meat. Lee loved weekend camping and fishing trips with her family, rummage sales, thrift-store shopping, and occasional casino outings. She was happiest when visitors stopped by, always offering a pop and a meal no matter the hour. During her years on the farm, Lee formed many lasting friendships.
In 1994, Lee retired from babysitting and began working as a Technician at Prime Wood in Wahpeton, where she remained until her retirement in 2015. The family moved to Wahpeton in 1995. Lee and Jerome shared 46 years of marriage before Jerome’s passing in 2015.
In 2016, Jeanie moved Lee to Panama City Beach, Florida, so she could be closer to her grandchildren, Pearl and Roy Jr. Lee returned to Wahpeton in 2019.
Lee is survived by her daughter, Jeanie (Michael Roy) Tweedy, and their children, Pearl and Michael Roy, Jr., Wallingford, PA; her sisters-in-law, Josephine Edmisson, Blackwell, OK, Agnes (Vincent) Dobler, Breckenridge, MN, brothers-in-law, Francis Schanilec, Grand Forks, ND, Tony (Paulette) Mohr, Great Bend, ND, Gregory Mohr, Wahpeton, ND, John Korinek, Campbell, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband, Jerome Mohr, her sisters-in-law, Ruth Korinek, Mary Schenilec, and brothers-in-law Joseph Mohr, and Francis Mohr.
Lee will be fondly remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and her ever-ready compliments.
