James Veflin

James H. Veflin, 70, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Matthew Tooman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Scandia Cemetery, New Effington, SD. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

James was born on September 1, 1945 at Wheaton, MN to Oliver and Mary (Lewis) Veflin. The family lived on a farm near White Rock, SD until they moved to Wyndmere, ND, then on to Hankinson where they mowed lawns for Max Wipperman for four years. In 1970, the family moved to Wahpeton where they continued to do lawn work for many people in the area including St. John's Catholic Church. Jim also worked for Schweitzer's in Breckenridge, MN hauling flax bales.

James was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and also the Eagles Club for 38 years. He liked to visit with people, attend Sunday dances at the Eagles and always looked forward to helping with the Eagles Fish Fry's. He liked playing bingo and could always be seen riding his bicycle or walking around town. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and watching television, but he most loved the life that he lived with his family and was always together with them. His brothers and his friends will miss him deeply.

James is survived his brothers, Kenneth and Charles Veflin, Wahpeton, ND and many cousins in the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Mary Veflin, his sister, Mary Ann Veflin, and many uncles and aunts.
