Janice Fay Manning

Janice Fay Manning, 84, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, at St. Gerard’s Community of Care in Hankinson, ND, under the care of CHI Health at Home Hospice.  Her funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the United Church of Christ in Wahpeton, ND.  There will be a visitation one hour prior.  Pastor Ken Adams will officiate.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.  Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.

Janice was born on September 13, 1939, to Hertha (Roeder) and August Muehler in Brightwood township west of Hankinson ND. She attended a rural Brightwood schoolhouse thru 8^th grade and graduated from Hankinson high school in 1957. Janice then went to NDSSS in Wahpeton and became as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

On April 2, 1960, she married Gary Manning at the United Church of Christ in Hankinson. Together they made Wahpeton their forever home and raised three children; Diane 1961, David 1962, and Dennis 1972. Janice worked at St. Francis hospital in Breckenridge, the Richland County Health Department, and Hospice with CHI in Breckenridge, she retired with over 59 years in the health care field. In 1978 Janice became the first Hospice volunteer in the state of North Dakota. Janice was a very active member of the United Church of Christ in Wahpeton. She was part of a travel group out of Colorado for several years visiting so many countries we wouldn’t know where to start counting!

Janice loved spending time with her family and added several more family members along the way. In the last few years visiting with friends and family, spending time outside, and church has been the highlight of her life, and she was always ready to make a cup of coffee.

 Janice was preceded in death by; daughter Dianne (1981), husband Gary (1986), and grandson Nicholas (1989).

She is survived by her two sons; David and Dennis (Jana); three grandchildren, Samantha (Cody) Nuenthel, Justin Manning, and Jason (Shantyla) Manning; five great grandchildren; Haylee (Justin), Kinlee and Kora (Jason), Jett and Lennox (Samantha).
