Jeane E. Meyer, 91, Aurora CO, formerly Wahpeton, ND, died Monday October 13, 2008 at St. Andrew’s Village, Aurora, CO. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Evergreen United Methodist Church , Wahpeton, with Rev. Paul Baker officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery , Wahpeton.







Jeane Elizabeth (Parkill) Meyer was born on July 22, 1917 at Fairmount , ND , the daughter of Lafayette and Bess (Clarke) Parkill.





She attended school and graduated from the Fairmount High School and also attended the ND State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.





Jeane married Gerald Meyer of Wahpeton, ND on January 17, 1942 at Breckenridge , MN .





With the exception of of four years living in Georgia and Alabama when Jerry was playing in the 404th Army Band during WWII, she spent her entire married life living in Wahpeton.





She worked as a Clerk in the ASCS office for fourteen years.





Jeane was an active member of the Evergreen United Methodist Church , the American Legion Aux, the Eagles Aux, the Past Presidents of the Legion and the  Elkettes.  For thirty years she worked for the Volunteers Association of the St. Francis Medical Center.





She bought a condominium and moved to Denver , CO in the summer of 2003 to be closer to her two daughters.





Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Florian (Jarrelyn) Gruenwald and Callee Meyer, both of Aurora, CO, two grandsons, Scott and Nichelle Reed, their 4 year old son, Reece, and Michael and Amanda Reed and their three kids, Lily (10), Gabriel (6) and Hannah (3), all of OK, a niece, Mrs. James Hartness (Cathal) and a nephew, Bob and Nora Cox and several Great Nieces and Great Nephews of the Detroit Lakes, MN area.





Jeane was proceeded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Helmer Flaa (Florence), Mrs. Dean Cox (Madelyn) and baby Myra and two brothers, Ezra and Myron, two sons, baby Gerald and James, a daughter, Mrs. Charles Reed (Janelle), of Denver, and her husband Jerry of Wahpeton.
