Jeanne Hertel

Jeanne (Hoffert) Hertel, 71, Ipswich, SD, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Sanford Hospital, Aberdeen, SD. A Memorial Service will be Monday, February 5, 2:00 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Jen Tyler officiating. There will be visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, in the spring.

Jeanne Hertel was born April 20, 1946 in Breckenridge, MN to Elmer and Lucille Hoffert.  Jeanne grew up on a farm in the Barney area.  She attended school at the Homestead County School, 1-6 grade and 7-8 grade in the Wyndmere School District and special programming at Milnor School District.  Jeanne had training at Moorhead, MN workshop for the handicapped.

Jeanne was united in marriage to Edward Hertel, May 29, 1967.  They moved to Jamestown, ND where Jeanne worked at Western Gear and Progressive Enterprise.  Jeanne lived in Jamestown, ND and Aberdeen, SD for most of her adult life.  Once she needed more medical care, she moved to Ipswich, SD in their care facility.

Jeanne liked to bake, cook, read and enjoyed arts and crafts and time at Ottertail Lake.  She worked very hard to complete her GED and enjoyed helping others.

Jeanne was very proud of her son, James (Jennifer) and his dedication to his family and their four children; Nick, Sydney, Calvin and Sabrina.  She is also survived by her sister, Kathy (Terry) Kolbo; her brothers, Frank (Arleen) Hoffert, and James Hoffert; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Donald.
