Jerome Link

June 27, 1952 — March 6, 2017

Jerome A. Link, 64, Mooreton, ND died on Monday, March 6th 2017 under the care of CHI Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He was welcomed into eternal rest by his beloved son, Randy.
Jerome Arthur Link was born June 27, 1952 in Breckenridge, MN to James & Norma (Baker) Link. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Mooreton. He attended Mooreton Grade School and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1970.
He married the love of his life, Theresa Berg, on September 22, 1973 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairmount. ND.
Jerome farmed with his dad and brother, and continued to until he retired in 2014. Even after retirement, Jerome couldn't sit still; so, he went to work for Red River Grain alongside his daughter, Tammy. He truly loved working for his daughter; this gave him such joy. Many evenings you would find Jerome drawing up plans to build or fix something. Even near the very end of his life, Jerome kept busy drawing diagrams and putting lists together to help his wife maintain their farm and the home. He could custom build, fix, or weld just about anything with the blueprint in his head; this earned him the nickname "Torch."
Family was important to Jerome. He deeply valued his relationship with Theresa, his wife of 43 years, and his children, Sherry and Tammy. Jerome taught his children his hard work, ethics, and the ability to fight through adversity. Seeing his daughters with successful careers in nursing and agronomy brought him joy.
With his wife and friends, Jerome loved to ride the open road on his Harley. You could often find Jerome and Theresa out dancing and meeting up with friends on the weekends. He loved going on fishing & camping trips with his kids and he also enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled model airplanes.
Jerome was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Mooreton and served as a Trustee and on the Parish Council. He was President of St. Anthony's Cemetery board for many years and spearheaded many improvements on the cemetery grounds.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Theresa; daughters, Sherry (Mark) Bakewell, Plano, TX; Tammy (Willie) Buchholz, Wahpeton, ND; mother, Norma, Wahpeton, ND; siblings, Debbie (Wayne) Pauly, Woodbury, MN; David (Sandy) Link, Mooreton, ND; Kathy (Tom) Haugrud, Wahpeton, ND; Diane (David) Derry, Sioux Falls, SD; Connie (Kelly) Doran, Edina, MN; Karen Link, San Francisco, CA; Daniel (Heather) Link, Mound, MN; step-grandchildren, Brent Bakewell, Dallas, TX, Kinsey (Jake) Benz, Dickinson, ND & Eric Buchholz, Portland, OR.
