John Quamme

John Quamme, 51, of Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Dwight, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at his residence. His funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Monday, January 4, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton with visitation one hour prior. Reverend Julé Ballinger will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a prayer service at 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

John was born July 24, 1964 at Breckenridge, MN, the son of Paul and Lenore (Meyer) Quamme. He attended elementary school in Dwight, ND, and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1982. After high school he attended college at NDSCS and NDSU. On November 27, 1985 he married Sue Barth in Bismarck, ND. They lived on his grandfather's farmstead and farmed near Dwight, ND. In 1998 he started working for RDO in Breckenridge, MN and for Minn-Kota Ag. The family moved to Breckenridge in 2002. In 2006 John suffered a stroke which limited his mobility but not his attitude or dedication to regain his health. Through hard work he obtained his black belt in Taekwondo and became active in AA.

John was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed driving anything with a motor: motorcycles, snowmobiles, cars and boats. John was known to do anything to help others out.

John is survived by two daughters: Allison Quamme and Emily Quamme, Fargo, ND; a grandson Ashton, and a brother, Richard (Laurie) Quamme, and a niece Gina, all of Wahpeton.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his parents, Paul and Lenore.
