Joseph Klosterman

Joseph "Dan" Klosterman, 88, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Twin Town Villa Assisted Living, Breckenridge, MN. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton at 11:30 am, with Reverend Peter Erickson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, also at Willow Creek Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Dan Klosterman was born on May 11, 1927 at Breckenridge, MN to Joseph and Ottilia
(Michels) Klosterman. He grew up in Wyndmere, ND and attended grade school for
eight years. He moved with his mother to Willmar, MN for a year and then to Flint, MI
for a year. They returned to Wahpeton, ND where Dan graduated from Wahpeton High
School in 1945. Dan enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and was medically
discharged in 1946. He then attended North Dakota State School of Science for a year
and then started work for the Ottertail Power Company for the next 42 years, retiring in
1989.

On October 18, 1947 he married Elaine Dahl; a union that lasted for 57 years. Dan and
Elaine wintered in Arizona for 14 years. They loved Arizona and enjoyed traveling and
sightseeing. After Elaine's death Dan went to Hawaii in the winter for a few years and
then to Florida more recently. He also enjoyed summers at Battle Lake, MN.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post
No. 20, Eagles and the International Order of Electrical Workers "IBEW". Dan's
favorite saying was "the past cannot be changed but it can be forgiven".

He is survived by his two children; daughter Susan Jo (Jim) Finke, Woodbury, MN and
his son Steve (Mary) Klosterman, Naples, FL and three grandsons; T. Christian and
Aaron Johnson and Brandon Klosterman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elaine on January 7, 2005, three sisters,
Mildred Kubela, Alice Jensen and Carmel Denstaedt and five brothers, Alfred, Rolland,
James, Leander and Robert.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be sent to CHI Health at Home Hospice, Breckenridge.
