June Nelson

June M. (Olthoff) Nelson, age 87, died on June 4, 2024, at Eventide Care Center in Fargo, ND. 

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, at 11:00 am, with visitation from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, ND.  Fr. Greg Haman will officiate. A private family burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Breckenridge, MN.  

June was born on June 10, 1936, to Christian and Pauline (Defries) Olthoff and raised in Doran, MN. 

 In 1954, June married the love of her life, Dale Nelson. Together, they had five children, Debbie, Dale, Jr., Mary, Robert, and Jeff. They embarked on various business ventures, starting with the purchase of an appliance store in Lisbon in 1970. The family later moved to Wahpeton, ND, where they acquired Nielsen Electric in 1979. June worked diligently alongside her husband and son, Jeff, managing the appliance store. Dale passed away in 1992, and June continued working with Jeff until her well-deserved retirement in 2002. June was known for her strong work ethic and her commitment to her family’s business. Beyond her professional life, she found great joy in a simple life. She enjoyed spending summers at Ottertail Lake, where cherished memories with family and friends were made. She also enjoyed trips to the casino with her sister, Delores, a pastime that brought her much happiness and laughter. June is survived by her children, Debbie Jensen, Mary (Carlton) Geurts, and Jeff (Dede) Nelson, 19 Grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norm (Donna) Olthoff; Allan (Pat) Olthoff; daughters-in-law, Shari Nelson and Juli Nelson; and friends who will miss her dearly. 

 She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale; two sons, Robert "Bob" and Dale, Jr. Nelson; sisters, Delores Barth and Marge Gowin; brothers, Hank Olthoff, Les Olthoff and Earl Olthoff; and her son-in-law, Tim Jensen.
