Kathryn Meyer

Kathryn E. Meyer, 96, of Wahpeton, ND passed from this life to be with her Lord, October 28, 2016 at Elim Rehab & Care Center in Fargo. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Dale Lagodinski officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a prayer vigil at 5:30 pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.

Kathryn was born to Francis and Elsie Schmidt in rural Wahpeton, January 14, 1920. She attended elementary school in rural Wahpeton and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Fred Meyer in 1947. They were blessed with 4 children; Paul (Darlene) Meyer, Mount Pleasant, WI; David (Sue) Meyer, Holmen, WI; James (Sheila) Meyer, Fargo, ND; Karen (Mike) Lorenzen, Mizpah, MN., 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Kathryn was a homemaker and loved gardening. She retired after 13 years with the State College of Science cafeteria in Wahpeton. She was a member of the Forester's at St. John's Catholic Church and was also a member of the Wahpeton VFW auxiliary.

Kathryn and Fritz enjoyed the lakes and spending time with family. She moved to Fargo in 2003 and lived independently until 2015 when mobility issues convinced her to move into Elim. She loved everyone at Elim and the family would like to thank all of the great staff for the loving care provided to Kathryn.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fred in 1991; her parents, 2 brothers, Lloyd and Francis Jr. and a sister, Marie Kluck. She is survived by one brother, Earl (Norma) Schmidt in Fergus Falls, MN. and many nieces and nephews.
