Katie Wheltle

Kathryn "Katie" Wheltle, 32, Wahpeton , ND passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 20, at 3:00 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be on Monday, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Katie was born on March 31, 1982 to Mark and Sharon (Smith) Wheltle in Baltimore, MD. She grew up in Baltimore and attended school at the Institute of Notre Dame and graduated in 2000. For ten years she worked at Giant Foods as a Pharmacy Tech. She moved to this area in March of 2013 and became an employee at Walmart in Wahpeton in April of 2014.

Katie liked to read, travel, and loved being with her family and helping to take care of her elders. She was a best friend of her mother and loved being with her dog, Annie.

Katie is survived by her parents, Mark and Sharon Wheltle, Mooreton, ND; her brothers, Michael Wheltle, Red Lion, PA, Matthew and Mark "Chip" Wheltle, both in Mooreton, ND; her maternal grandfather, Thomas Smith, Sr., Moorhead, MN; her maternal grandmother, Barbara Smith, Red Lion, PA; her uncles, Thomas Smith, Jr., Cloquet, MN, Joseph Smith, Moorhead; and her special dog, Annie.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Margaret Wheltle, and an uncle, Jerome Wheltle.
