Laurence "Larry" Golden, 74, of Wahpeton, ND, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, in Fargo, North Dakota, at the age of 74. Born on March 8, 1951, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Larry’s journey through life was marked by kindness, laughter, and a deep love for his family.
Larry graduated from Humboldt (MN) High School. He married the love of his life, Edith McAdoo, on June 23, 1972; he adored his wife, with whom he shared many laughs that have gotten them through life together.
Larry was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a special fondness for his old pickup truck, a symbol of the adventures he loved to embark on. It was within this pickup that countless memories were created, whether it was hauling his grandchildren for fun outings, heading to his favorite fishing spots, or simply enjoying a quiet drive through the countryside (most likely on his way to the casino). Larry's steady hand afforded him a lifetime career of painting homes, and he loved the time spent with the paintbrush in his hand.
Family was at the core of Larry's life. His daughters, Kristy (Robert) Higgins and Jeanne (Sheldon) Lindskog, brought him immense pride, continually showering him with love and laughter. As a grandfather, Larry's heart swelled with joy for his grandchildren, each one a bright star in his life. He delighted in watching them grow and thrive and cherished every moment spent with Angel (Josh), Ariel (Vanessa), Kayla, Jesse (Dez), Passion, Zamari, and Cherish. The arrival of his great-grandchildren – Liem, Weston, Oakley, Zaidyn, Ezra, Julian, and soon-to-be-born Frankie – was particularly special for Larry, bringing additional layers of love and happiness.
Larry’s legacy will also be carried on by his siblings: his brothers, Ernest and Bobby Golden, and his sister, Jean Golden, who will forever remember him for his infectious smile and gentle spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Ernest and one brother, Robert.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Larry on June 10, 2025, at the Optimist Shelter in Chahinkapa Park, Wahpeton, North Dakota, at 11 AM. Friends and family are invited to come together to reflect on Larry’s remarkable life, share stories, and celebrate the legacy of love that he has left behind.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Larry's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. May we honor his memory by embracing our families, sharing laughter, and cherishing the moments that make life truly special.
