Laverne Bohn, 90, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 2:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer and Rev. Ron Carnicom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Great Bend, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Laverne was born on April 24, 1925 in Tenney, MN to George and Erna (Roth) Rogge. She grew up in the Nashua, MN area and graduated from Tintah High School. After graduation she worked at various jobs around the area.
Laverne was united in marriage to Milton Bohn on September 8, 1948. They then lived in Great Bend, ND where they raised their six children. She was also busy outside the home as a teacher's aide at the Great Bend School, working at the Great Bend Post Office and helping Smilt on his painting jobs. Smilt passed away on December 18, 2002. Laverne continued to live in Great Bend until just recently becoming a resident of the Leach Home in Wahpeton.
Laverne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and also a member of the LWML. She served on the Great Bend City Council and spent many years on the Election Board. She enjoyed doing people's hair, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, playing cards, and was the #1 Fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. It was important to her to be at her grandkid's sports activities and she especially loved to make Sunday dinners for her family. Laverne was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
Laverne is survived by her daughters, LaRae (Gary) Odegard, Fort Collins, CO, Bonnie (John) Hauschild, rural Wahpeton, ND, Carol (Josh) Evans, Andover, MN, Becky (Merlyn) Pausch, rural Wahpeton, ND, Sheila (John Benshoof) Klosterman, Fargo, ND; her fifteen grandchildren; her 24 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Jim and Merlyn Rogge; her sister Clarice Clark; her sisters-in-law, Mary Rogge and Donna Bohn; and her daughter-in-law, Charlyne (Dennis) LaVoie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milton, her son, David Bohn, her son-in-law, Steve Fenske, her sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Delores Mitchell, and her brother Veryl Rogge.
