Lee Roger Johnson, 79, Wahpeton, ND passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at CHI St. Francis Health, Breckenridge, MN. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 19, at 10:30 AM at Evergreen United Methodist Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Jen Tyler officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Lee Roger Johnson was born June 22, 1936 (on his mother's 29th birthday) to Waldo and Gladys (Halquist) Johnson on a farm near Rosholt, SD. Lee Roger attended rural school near Wheaton, MN. He later worked for Claire McClellan as a tree cutter for utility lines and for Traverse Implement, painting farm equipment. On July 3, 1958, Lee Roger was united in marriage to Marjo Medenwaldt in Wheaton, MN. He worked for Olson's Building Construction. They moved to and farmed near Rosholt, SD, before moving to Hankinson, ND where he worked for Boehning Construction. The family moved to Wahpeton, ND, in 1964; where he worked for Oliver Construction and Meide's Construction before he started his own taping and texturing sheetrock business along with his sons.
Lee Roger was an active member of Evergreen United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting. He taught his sons and daughters to respect the guns they carried.
Lee Roger is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjo, Wahpeton; his children: Tami (Kenard) Turner, Elk River, MN; Dan (Monica) Johnson, Las Vegas, NV; Arlyn (Becky Tripp) Johnson and Darren Johnson, all of Wahpeton; Twyla (Al) Lopez, Murrieta, CA; ten grandchildren: Kenny, Kris (Amber), Kurt, Kassie Turner, Amber (Jake) Hosmer, Haylee Johnson, Annelise (Enoch) Alvarado, Daniela Johnson, Alexander and Baylee Lopez; three great grandchildren: Lola and Ezequiel Alvarado and Vayda Turner; one brother and three sisters: Wally (Pauline) Johnson, Connie (John) Swedlund, Kay (Lyle) LeCuyer, and Susan (Dean) Roman, all of Wheaton, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Bonnie and a brother Jimmie.
