Leslie "Les" Luebke

August 25, 1967 — August 31, 2025

  • Les Luebke, 58 of Wahpeton, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Hennepin County Medical Center after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

  • He was born in Breckenridge on August 25, 1967, to Robert “Bob” and Leona (Hagen) Luebke, the youngest of 3 children. Les grew up in the Wahpeton area, attending Wahpeton High School, where he also enjoyed wrestling, even lettering in the sport. After high school, Les served his country in the National Guard for several years, some of which were spent in Honduras. After his time in the service, Les made a living as a certified mechanic and later a Semi Truck Driver, which saw him traveling all over the country in his 35 years of driving.

  • During his high school years, Les met Paula Brogren, going on to eventually have 3 children. Les was a very devoted father, spending his adult life being an invested and dedicated father and grandfather. He was very proud of all three of his children; he was often heard boasting about their latest goals and accomplishments. The only thing that Les was prouder of than being a father was being a grandfather to his 3 grandchildren, even changing his career from over-the-road driving to a local job at Waste Management to allow even more free time to spend with his children and especially grandchildren.

  •  Apart from being an active father and grandfather, Les enjoyed cars and was a talented mechanic and tinkerer. He also enjoyed spending time at the lakes with his friends and family, and most of all riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Les resided in Wahpeton, close to his children, until moving to his daughter’s home in Breckenridge shortly before his passing.

  • Les is preceded in death by his father, Bob Luebke, in 1999, and brother, Mike Luebke, in 2019.

  • He is survived by his mother, Leona Luebke, and sister Sheila (Luebke) Schafer; his children, Christifer (Jessica) Luebke, Joshua Luebke, and Paige (Anthony) Luebke; his grandchildren, Ronald “Ronnie” Scott Dahm, Lara Jo Eychaner-Huesmann, and James Cole Eychaner Huesmann; his nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

  • Les and his well-known ornery attitude will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

  • Join us as we honor his life and say goodbye. His Memorial Service will be held at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 3 pm with visitation at 2 pm and burial to follow.
