Lola Iris Freitag, 86, whom was known to everyone as "Peaches", of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton. Her funeral service will be held Monday, March 28, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton with the Rev. Mark Manning officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, North Dakota.
Lola was born on August 6, 1929 in Ottertail County, Minnesota to Ray and Emma (Wait) Rogers. She attended school until the 7th grade when she went to live with her sister, Florence to help care for her children.
Lola was united in marriage to Donald Freitag on June 19, 1948 in Breckenridge, Minnesota. They started their life together in Breckenridge, journeyed to California and finally returned to Wahpeton, North Dakota in 1995.
While living in California, Lola went back to school for her GED at the age of 42. She continued on to earn her Licensed Practical Nursing degree, graduating in 1974. She worked at nursing homes in California and continued her career at St. Catherine's Living Center in Wahpeton until retiring at the age of 80.
She loved cooking, reading and spending time with her family.
Peaches is survived by her children, Cheryle (Patrick) Haley, Temecula, CA, Roger (Sharon) Freitag, Fairmount, ND, Rick (Nancy) Freitag, West Fargo, ND and Sheila (Charles) Massengale, Galt, CA; her grandchildren, Connie (Mace) Okeson, Murrieta, CA, Scott Barton, Murrieta, CA, Jim (Stacey) Barton, El Cajon, CA, Jessica Freitag, Fargo, ND, Lucas Freitag, Fargo, ND, Christina (Ron) Kind, Fargo, ND, Eric Freitag, West Fargo, ND, Laura Freitag, Pembina, ND, and Stacy and Kevin Massengale, Galt, CA; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her sister, Eileen (Harvey) Willprecht, Willmar, MN; and her brothers, Eugene Rogers, Granville, ND and Forrest Rogers, Sparks, NV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, her parents, and her siblings: Florence Kiser, Edith Peterson, Gertrude Weldin, Maxine Monson, Chauncey Rogers, Erma (Dolly) Bradley, Ray Rogers and Alyce Schuster.
The family would like to say "Thank-you" to Hospice and St. Catherine's Living Center for the care given to Mom.
