Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.

Lorelei “Lori” Ann Bassen was born to William Jr. and Wanda (Rasmusson) Bassen on October 7, 1962, in the back seat of William's car in the streets of Valley City, ND. She spent her childhood in the Marion, ND, area helping on the family farm. She loved farm life. In 1980, Lori graduated from Marion High School and left for Wahpeton, ND, to attend NDSCS for her degree in accounting. While there she met a good friend, Jean Siemieniewski. Jean would soon introduce Lori to her brother Alon Peplinski and on June 23, 1984 the two were united in marriage at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Litchville, ND.

Lori had a giving heart. She gave and gave till she had nothing left to give. Cooking for the seniors at the senior center was her favorite job. She gave her heart to those seniors and cared about them more than they would ever know. Her grandbabies were the sparkle in her eyes. She loved spending time with them and watching them whenever she could.

When Lori wasn’t working or watching her grandbabies there were plenty of other places to find her. If she wasn’t sewing or quilting, you could find her watching her true crime shows with one of her beloved dogs on her lap. That is if the Vikings weren’t on! She was one of the biggest Viking fans cheering them on every game! If you couldn’t find her inside, she could be found outside maybe garage sale hopping looking for new additions to her wolf, Eeyore, or cookbook collections! If it was a gorgeous day and Lori was nowhere to be found, she was out on the open road traveling around with Alon on their prized Harley. She loved riding their Harley and all the trips they took it on.

Lori will live on through her husband of 37 years, Alon Peplinski; her daughters, Jessica (Johnathan) Greene, Jennifer (Raymond) Snare, and Krystal (Alex) Haberman; her grandbabies, Charlie, Dyllen, Ethyn, Stryker, and Wyler; her parents, William and Wanda Bassen; her sister, Deborah (Anthony) Gapinski; and her 4-legged baby, Skyler.

She is preceded in death by her son, Joshua Peplinski; her grandparents, William Sr. and Stella Bassen, and Otto and Olga Rasmusson; her nephew and godson, Jon Burdick; her mother-in-law, Marion Peplinski; and her beloved dog Shadow.
