Lorraine Buchholz-Davis, 93, Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Wyndmere, ND, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 28, at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, Barney, ND with Rev. Sean Daenzer officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Barney. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Lorraine was born on August 26, 1923 in rural Lidgerwood, ND to Frank and Nellie (Skillings) Baumann. She grew up and attended school in Lidgerwood. She was united in marriage to Edward Buchholz at Peace Lutheran Church in Barney on June 23, 1939. The couple farmed north of Wyndmere and moved into Wyndmere in 1947and continued to farm. Edward passed away on December 17, 1965 and Lorraine was left to support her children. She worked as a barmaid and also worked as a salesperson for Watkins and Fuller Brush. She was known as the Watkins lady and won awards with the company.
Lorraine was united in marriage to LaVern "Buzz" Davis on October 28, 1973. They lived on the farm east of Wyndmere until Buzz died on June 27, 1994. Lorraine then moved back to Wyndmere until she became a resident of the Leach Home in 2009 and then St. Catherine's Living Center in 2010.
Lorraine was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and of the LWML. She was a great cook and baker and was known as the lady that made great buns to the point where she was a top seller at the Fort Ransom Relay for Life. She also made many quilts and crocheted many blankets for her family and also for many raffles and benefits. Her biggest love was her family, cooking for and taking care of them.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Duane) Orth, Gwinner, ND; her son, Arlin (Harriet) Buchholz, Wahpeton, ND; her son-in-law, Bruce (Dana Sue) Busch, Pelican Rapids, MN; her fifteen grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; her brother, Dan Baumann, Ogilvie, MN; and her sister-in-law, Helen Baumann, Mesa, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nellie Baumann, her first husband, Edward Buchholz, her second husband, LaVern "Buzz" Davis, her son, ElWayne "Butch" Buchholz, her daughters, Barbara Johnson and Janice Busch, her son-in-law, Tom Johnson, her grandson, Jason Orth, her great granddaughter, Cassandra Kuester, her two brothers, Jim and Frank Baumann, and a sister, Beatrice DeChene.
