Lynnae Loeks

Lynnae Marie Loeks, 69, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away on April 29, 2026, leaving behind a family full of stories, laughter, and memories that somehow always became more entertaining in the retelling.

Lynnae was born on September 5, 1956, to Oswald and Otillia Aune, likely in Breckenridge, MN. She built a life centered around family, caring for others, and making sure nobody left a room without hearing at least one good story.

She is survived by her children: Joshua Loeks and his child Alexis Marshall; Erica Loeks and her child Everett Sutherland; and Jacob (Elizabeth) Loeks and their children Collin, Lydia, and Adeline. She is also survived by her siblings: Bob (Mavis) Aune, Jan (Jim) Graham, Marcy (Duane) Porter, Mike (Mary) Aune, Ken (Marilyn) Aune, and Rhonda (Jeff) Ross.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Loeks; and her parents, Oswald and Otilia Aune; and her nephew, Jason Porter.

Lynnae spent many years caring for children through an in-home daycare before later working as a paraprofessional in the Wahpeton School District. She had a lively spirit and a knack for making ordinary moments memorable. Whether she was fishing, creating intricate Ukrainian eggs, or discovering a surprising talent for elaborate balloon sculptures in retirement, she always found ways to keep life interesting.

More than anything, Lynnae loved Doug deeply. After his passing in 2019, she missed him tremendously and carried that love with her every day. Together, they built a home full of personality, humor, and stories that will continue to be told for years to come.

Lynnae will be deeply missed by those who knew her for her lively spirit, sharp wit, and unforgettable way of telling a story.

Funeral services for Lynnae will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton, ND, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour before the service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.
