Marie (Rink) Heitkamp was born January 20, 1932 in Breckenridge, MN to Frank and Martha(Pelzl) Rink. She attended Antelope School and received her baccalaureate at Antelope High School on May 21, 1950. She received a scholarship and was class valedictorian.
During her years at Antelope, she enjoyed playing half court basketball, participated in a high school play “Three Old Maid Aunts” and sang in musical numbers including a vocal trio. After graduating she became certified as a teacher in a one room school house.
After her marriage to John in 1952, they moved to her family’s farm in Antelope Township. Marie was a homemaker who loved her family and kept busy with farming and raising dairy cattle. In 1970, they moved to Fargo, where she worked at BlueCross and BlueShield and then became A bookkeeper at Nativity Catholic Church.
Marie enjoyed working as a 4-H leader, cooking, canning, making beautiful quilts, and taking on the task of crocheting table cloths and runners. In 1980, they moved to Arizona, where they began to enjoy their retirement years.
They would spend half the year in Arizona and the other half at the lakes in Minnesota. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, playing bingo, and watching the Minnesota Twins. She was lucky enough to attend the World Series game in 1991, where her beloved Twins won.
Above all, she treasured the precious times spent with her family.
Marie is survived by her children, Geralyn (Stanley) Musielewicz of Little Falls, MN., Julie Heitkamp of St. Cloud, MN, Mark Heitkamp of Ahwatukee AZ, and Tami (Karl) Carroll of Gilbert AZ. Two grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Kleespies and Lisa (Tom) Henchal.
Four great-grandchildren, Caden, Isabelle, Jack, and Avery.
