Marvin Krueger

Marvin Lee Krueger, age 86, of Breckenridge MN, passed away Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 at Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids, MN. Visitation will be Thursday, September 27th, 2018, from 5pm – 7pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral Services will be on Friday, September 28th, at 2pm with time to visit, one-hour prior, at the funeral home. Pastor Rene Hasbargen will be officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.

Marvin was born March 26, 1932 in Fargo, ND to George and Tillie (Rolin) Krueger.  He grew up in rural Breckenridge, MN; leaving school in the 8th grade to help on the farm.  Marvin was united in marriage to Dorothy Guderian on January 20, 1950.  They farmed in rural Breckenridge for several years, moving into Breckenridge in 1959.  Marvin worked for Twin City Roofing and Lee’s Roofing before starting his own roofing business in 1979. After retiring in 1994, the couple moved to their lake home on Walker Lake, MN.

Marvin was an avid hunter in his younger years; he enjoyed fishing, catching minnows, making fishing decoys, and doing yard work.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors; he enjoyed picking potatoes in the fall, making sauerkraut, and cooking. Besides chocolate candies, his favorite meal was steak and potatoes.  Marvin loved spending time at the lake with family and friends.  He enjoyed listening to the radio, especially the Twin’s games; watching the news and The Wheel of Fortune.  Marvin loved dogs, and truly missed his beloved “Dakota”.

In his later years Marvin would spend every day with Dorothy, he truly loved her. They enjoyed going on the Bus Casino Tour’s, going to auction sales, playing cards with friends, and living at their lake home together.

He is survived by his daughter, Faye Salveson (Jim) Wild Rose, ND; his sons, Mike (Nancy) Krueger, Felton, MN, Greg Krueger, Huron, SD, Rick (Sharon) Krueger, Walcott, ND, Jeff (Jeri) Krueger, Breckenridge, MN; his sister, Beverly (Jim) Gorder, Elgin, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Marcella Krueger, Moorhead, MN and Edna Guderian, Wahpeton, ND; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; close family friends, Barb Randal, Sue and Duane Hiedeman; and several foster grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his son, Doug Krueger; his parents, George and Tillie Krueger; his brother, Arlyn Krueger; granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Ariane and Katiana Wheeler; daughter-in-law, Mary Krueger; and grandson-in-law, Nick Blanchet.
