Mary Bailey

Mary Ellen Bailey, 72, Tucson AZ died Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Tucson Medical Center.  A memorial service was held in Tucson September 25th.  A service will be held in Wahpeton at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 10th at 2:00 p.m. with visitation the hour preceding the service.  Interment will be at the Elk Creek Cemetery, Wyndmere ND.  Local arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.

Mary Ellen was born to parents, Herbert and Mary (McLeod) Bailey, on April 15, 1945 growing up in Wyndmere ND.  She attended high school at the Anne Carlsen School in Jamestown ND.  She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Speech Pathology at Emporia and Wichita KS.  She practiced Speech Pathology in Wichita KS, Abilene and San Angelo TX before moving to Tucson AZ in 1983.

She married Vernon Dace on May 31, 1993.  Vern preceded her in death on April 10, 2007.  She is survived by her three brothers:  John (Arlene) Bailey of Wyndmere ND; Colin (Linda) Bailey and Harris (Fern) Bailey both of Wahpeton ND.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband as well as her sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and James Strege.
