Michael Schafer

Michael David Schafer, 40, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015, at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held, 2 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, with Rev. Mark Manning officiating. There will be visitation with the family one hour before the service at Willow Creek. Interment will be at Lake View Cemetery, Rosholt, SD.

Michael was born June 26, 1975, at Freeman, SD. He attended school throughout the tristate area and high school at Rosholt, SD. He married Sheila Luebke on February 5, 1999. Michael worked at Robanks, Heitkamp Construction and for the last 10 years at Krause Brothers Construction.

Michael was an avid fisherman and enjoyed video games and reading fiction.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sheila and two children, Deven and Alexandra, all of Wahpeton; his mother, Donna Van Oort, Rosholt, SD; three sisters and a brother: Renee (Jack) Cleveland, Aberdeen, SD; Brenda Van Oort, Rosholt; Benjamin Van Oort, Hankinson, ND; Cassandra (Jacob) Johnson, Rosholt; 7 step grandchildren, and a special friend, Kathy Purcell.

He was preceded in death by his "Dad", Ronald Van Oort.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
