Nancy Hagen

Nancy C. Hagen, 76, of Breckenridge, MN passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at River Pointe Assisted Living, Moorhead, MN.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, October 26, 2018 followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Breckenridge Lutheran Church.  Pastor Mark Manning will officiate.  Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Elbow Lake, MN.  Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Nancy Carol Holey was born on February 13, 1942 to Lars and Mary (Bishop) Holey in Petersburg, NE.  She was born on Friday the 13th, was the 13th child, and also celebrated her 13th birthday on Friday the 13th.  Nancy’s family lived in Fergus Falls, MN for a short while before moving to the farm near Elbow Lake, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1959.  After high school, Nancy attended Ritter’s Cosmetology School in Fergus Falls, and later worked as a beautician in Elbow Lake and Morris, MN.

Nancy fell in love with Phillip Hagen and they were joined in marriage on July 25, 1963. The couple moved to Wahpeton/Breckenridge area where they raised their four children.  Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and gardening.

Nancy is survived by her children, Christine (Steve) Hoggarth, Wahpeton, ND, Steven (Lisa) Hagen, Fergus Falls, MN, Julie (Jeff) Zettel, Merrill, IA, and Heidi Hagen, Henning, MN; her sisters, Margaret Stahl, Dorothy Loken, and Mary Ingbretson; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents, Lars Andrew Holey and Mary Elizabeth Bishop; her husband, Phillip Hagen; sisters, Verna Stahl, Betty Stahl, and Anna Fjestad; brothers, Lars Jr. Holey, Don Holey, Robert Holey, and Louis Holey; two infant sisters; and a great-grandson, Isaiah Phillip Hoggarth.
