Patricia Dailey

Patricia Anne Dailey was born on January 21, 1924 at the St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge , MN ; the youngest daughter of Walter L. and Ida F. (Hanson) Divet. Patricia attended the Wahpeton Public Schools and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1942. She was an honor student and very active in school activities. She continued her education at the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton and traveled to Washington , DC in 1943 to serve as a Secretary for the Navy at the Bureau of Ships. Pat was united in marriage to Albert F. Dailey of Rochester , NY in November 1944 at Jacksonville , FL. She continued to reside in Rochester until 1964, when she moved to Takoma Park , MD. She served as a typesetter for several firms and did work on some national publications. In 1980, Pat moved to Wahpeton where she began her employment with Avon . In 1992, she joined the Senior Citizens Work Program. She worked for a year at the Leach Public Library in Wahpeton and entered more than 35,000 entries into the newly set up computer system. In 1993 Pat began work at the Wahpeton City Hall for Wayne Beyer in the Parks and Recreation Department. This position turned into a three time employment record until her retirement in 2004. Pat loved her job; from working on the computer to counting pheasant feathers.

Pat’s hobbies were dancing, music, bowling, reading, baking and visiting with friends. She had a great sense of humor; even four artificial joints couldn’t stop her dancing! Pat was a member of the Master Printers Association of America; which accepted members on a merit basis only. She was also a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Wahpeton.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Giesler, Bristol , TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a 9 year old daughter, Diane, two new born infant children and a sister, Harriett Matzek.
