Randolph "Randy" P. Neppl, 58, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Sunday, August 31, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at the Wahpeton Armed Forces Reserve Center, (AFRC) Wahpeton, ND, with Rev. Ken Adams officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 3 PM to 7 PM, with no prayer service at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at AFRC. Interment will take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Military Honors to be provided by Wahpeton Military Unit and North Dakota Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Randy was born May 28, 1956, at Fargo, ND, the son of Harold A. and Laureign E. (Bellmore) Neppl. He grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1974. He entered the US Army in 1974. He was united in marriage to Jan Karla Emery on July 12th, 1975. He was honorably discharged in 1977 from the US Army, Randy then joined the Army National Guard until his retirement in September of 1994 after proudly serving 20 years in the US Army and Army National Guard. Randy believed it was not only a US citizens right but his duty to vote in all elections. Randy worked for 3M/Imation for 28 years before he started working at Wahpeton Armed Forces Reserve Center. The couple resided in Wahpeton where they raised their 3 children.

Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a "history and science buff" and was always willing to be a handyman to those that needed help. He often kidded that he was the "jack of all trades and master of none". During his battle with cancer, Randy displayed an amazing positive attitude; being determined to make a new friend each day or make an old friend or family member laugh and smile. He loved his dogs "best friends": Pal, Smokey, Toni, Federal, Rusty, Radar, Denver and Daisy Dukes.

Randy is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jan, Wahpeton; his son Christopher (Alexis) Neppl, Mooreton, ND; his daughter, Stefani (Ty) Mikkelson, Wahpeton; four grandchildren: Keagan Alexis Neppl, Zane Phillip Mikkelson, Kasen Andrew Neppl, Kennasyn Anne Neppl; six brothers and sisters: twin sister, Renee (Scott) Rossow, Wahpeton; Carol (Paul) LeNoue, Kent, MN; Timothy Neppl, Sycamore, Ill.; Morris (JoAnn) Neppl, Ridgeley, West Virginia; Marjorie Polansky, Thief River Ralls; Trudy (Ray) Such, Fargo; mother-in-law, Phyllis Emery, Wahpeton; sisters-in-law: Marlene Neppl, Fergus Falls, MN; Penny (Steve) Helgeson, Wahpeton; Diane (Maynard) Bjerke, Kent, MN; his "Special" friends Tyler, Macey and and Brock Davids; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Laureign, father-in-law Clyde Emery, his son, Phillip Emery Neppl, siblings: Kenneth (Neva) Neppl, Richard Neppl, Terrance (Shirley) Neppl, Nila (Walter) Grenz and Adelaide Jay Neppl.

Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
