Richard Bell

Richard "Dick" Bell, a beloved, father, grandfather, great grandfather and dedicated community member, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Wahpeton, ND. Born on March 29, 1942, in Clark, SD, Dick lived a life rich in service, friendship, and the great outdoors.

Throughout his life, Dick was known for his passion for nature, earning recognition as the ND Sportsman of the Year. He actively participated in the Red River Area Sportsman Club and was proud to organize the Dick Bell Catfish Tournament during Blue Goose Days, which became a highlight in the community. His love for the outdoors also translated into his commitment to educating others; he taught Hunter's Safety Classes, sharing his knowledge and fostering a respect for nature among young hunters.

Dick's contributions extended beyond the outdoors. He served on the Wyndmere City Council, he was a longtime member of the Jaycee's and a committed volunteer with the Wyndmere Fire Department and the local Ambulance Service, he took pride in being one of the first to complete the EMT class in Richland County.

He cherished time spent with his family and found joy in the company of his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Bell; his sons, Jeff Bell and Tim (Janet) Bell; his daughter, Laura; and his grandchildren, Adam (Jackie, Ellie, Sophia) and Aaron (Jordyn and future Baby Bell). Dick's legacy will be honored by the many lives he touched through his dedication to his community.

A visitation will be held on November 24, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 PM at the same location. Both services will take place at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, located at 318 3rd St, Wyndmere, ND 58081. The service will be livestreamed. 

Dick's indelible impact on those around him will be remembered fondly, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
