Richard Eric Larson of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed unexpectantly at the age of 56 on April 22, 2025. Richard was born Richard Eugene Driver to Anna Driver and Harland Good Bird on August 28, 1968, at Sisseton, SD. At the age of two, he was adopted by Larry and Lola Larson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where he continued to live until age 18.
He showed a special talent for music from an early age. He was a piano student from grades 2 through 12, played the cello, and then the drums in the high school band. He was selected for the small group of choraliers from grades 9 through 12, and as a senior, he was selected for the State Boys Choir. He would accompany his vocal solos with his piano talents. He was on the varsity cross country team for four years and participated in diving on the swim team. Besides his school activities, he was active in Sunday school and youth activities at Bethel Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed in 1984.
Richard graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1987 and continued his education at Detroit’s Lakes Area Technical Institute as a chef. Chef jobs took him to Florida in 1988 and then to Arvada, Colorado. He then returned to Wahpeton to be close to his siblings. He will be missed for his quiet, caring ways and his great laugh!
He is preceded in death by his biological parents, Anna Driver and Richard Good Bird. He is survived by his parents, Larry and Lola Larson, sisters Jeannie Bosch (Chad) of Wahpeton, Niki Larson, Portland, Oregon, and Michele Ledbury (George) of Vancouver, WA. and brothers Vernon Driver of Wahpeton and Jon Larson of Bellingham, WA. Plus two nephews, Matthew Ashley of Nevada, Missouri, and Jack Ledbury of Vancouver, Washington, and one niece, Sarah Gilbirds of Moberly, MO. We will truly miss Richard.
