Richard Williams

Richard W. Williams, 72, Minneapolis , MN , originally Fairmount , ND , died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Society, Minneapolis , MN . The Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, June 7, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery , Fairmount , ND .

Richard was born November 30, 1937, the son of Gordon and Grace (Lee) Williams. He grew up on a farm near Fairmount , ND and graduated from Fairmount High School . He served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965 and returned to Fairmount to help his father on the farm. He worked for Reserve Mining at Ely, MN and later worked at Minn-Dak Farmers Coop, Ro-Banks Tool & Mfg., both Wahpeton and Richland County Sheriffs Department. After his father’s death, Richard moved to Williston , ND , where he was involved in Insurance Industry and was a bail bondsman for several years. After his health deteriorated he resided at the Veterans Home in Lisbon , ND and recently was at Good Samaritan Society in Minneapolis , MN .

Richard enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful musician and played the banjo, trombone and sang.

Richard is survived by two children: Elizabeth (Dean) Johnson, Williston , ND ; John ( Willow ) Williams, Albert Lee, MN; grandchildren; two brothers and a sister: Warren (Mary) Williams, Melrose , MN ; Patricia (Michael) Orloff, McHenry , Ill. ; and Julie (Dennis) Jerger, Barnesville, MN.
