Ruth Sanden, 92, of Wyndmere, ND passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Wyndmere Lutheran Church with Rev. Harvey Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Gol-Aal Cemetery, rural Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Ruth Tvete was born April 9, 1925 in Ryan Township, LaMoure, ND, the fourth child of Alfred and Grace (Williamson) Tvete. She grew up on the family farm near LaMoure and attended LaMoure Public School. Ruth received her bachelor’s degree from NDSU in Fargo in home economics and taught at Wyndmere High School for 4 years. She married Conrad Sanden June 9, 1951 and they farmed north of Wyndmere, retiring in 1989. Ruth was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and led Bible studies. She helped manage the farming operation, was an expert gardener, loved all music (particularly playing piano), was a life-long student and reader. She loved her family and dear friends, was always a listening ear and wise mentor to her children and grandchildren.
Ruth survived by her husband of 66 years, Conrad (of Wyndmere, ND), son and daughter-in-law Bill and Jan Sanden, daughter and son-in-law Virginia (Ginnie) and Steve Bren, granddaughters Karin (Picho) Garduno, Kjerstin (Shane) Yager, Kelli (Daniel) Leeman, and grandson Austin (Kristen) Bren, and great grandchildren Anya and Klara Garduno, and Micah and Theodore Leeman. She leaves one sister, Grace (Don) Beck, Detroit Lakes, MN, and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Luella and Elaine, and brother, Edward.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gol-Aal Cemetery.
