Ruth Walker

Ruth Ilene (Scheidemantel) Walker, 96 of Fargo, ND passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by the memorial service at 2:00 pm at the Eventide Chapel in Fargo, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Ruth Ilene Scheidemantel was born March 3, 1922 to Homer and Thelma (McCandless) Scheidemantel in Harmony, Pennsylvania.  She married David E. Walker in 1943 on Christmas Eve.  Ruth and Dave moved to the Chicago area, and later to Park Forest and Naperville, Illinois where they raised their family.  In 2000, after Dave’s retirement, the couple moved to Fargo, ND to be closer to family.  After Dave passed away, Ruth moved into Eventide Fargo.

Ruth was a devoted wife and mother, who loved her family dearly.

Ruth is survived by her children, Jan (John) Thiele, Battle Lake, MN and Dave Walker, Denver, CO; her grandchildren, Marc (Michelle) Thiele, Greg (Amber) Thiele and Jennifer (Chris) Nelson; and her 7 great-grandchildren, Brennan, Josh, Bailey, Caitlin, Kaitlyn, Emily and Caleb.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
