Steiner Flaa

Steiner E. Flaa, 79, Rural Abercrombie, ND, passed away on Tuesday, December 19 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be Friday, December 22, from 5 - 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 23, 11:00 am at Bethany Free Lutheran Church in rural Abercrombie, ND, with Rev. Tom Reagan officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Steiner “Stenny” was born April 20, 1938 at St. Lukes Hospital, Fargo, ND, the son of Emil and Frances (Alexander) Flaa. He attended school in Abercrombie graduating from Abercrombie High School in 1956. He attended NDSSS and returned to the farm. Stenny married LaRue Bakke on June 17, 1961 at Hickson Lutheran Church. The couple lived and farmed on the home farm.

Stenny was a member of Bethany Free Lutheran Church and the Sons of Norway. He and his wife were Advisors for Bethany Luther League and Stenny was Trustee for the church for many years.  He was one of the original stockholders of Minn-Dak Farmers Co-op, and enjoyed following his children and grandchildren in their activities.

Stenny is survived by his wife, LaRue and three children: Nancy (Joe) Wulfekuhle, Wolverton, MN; Jody (Tim) Bergman, Argusville, ND; Mike (Aimee) Flaa, Galchutt, ND; nine grandchildren: Lacy Wulfekuhle, Tyler (Kara) Wulfekuhle; Kelly Bergman, Ally Bergman, Paige Bergman, Jenna Bergman, Devin Flaa, Kennedy Flaa, Ryley Flaa; his brother, Stuart (Pat) Flaa, Abercombie; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
