Thanh Tran

Thanh T. Tran, 70, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at her home.  Visitation will be on Friday, November 8, 2019, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm followed by her service at 3:00 pm at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton.  Deacon Doug Campbell will officiate the service.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Thanh Thi Tran was born to Toan and Lan (Thi) Nguyen February 5, 1949, in Vietnam. She grew up there until in 1973, the war forced her family to relocate to the Philippines. In 1982, Thanh moved to North Dakota and met Charlie Tran through the personal ads in the newspaper.

Together they raised three sons, Danilo, Eusebio, and Anthony. Charlie Tran passed away in 2001 and to support her family she began to work for Primewood in production. After being alone for many years, she became lifelong partners with Coung Doung.

Thanh loved to cook traditional Vietnamese foods, fish, and travel. After they both retired,Coung and Thanh would travel to Australia to visit his family.  Before her health began to fail, she was planning to go back to Vietnam with her youngest grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Tran.

Thanh is survived by her sons, Danilo (Marissa) Calderon, Eusebio Calderon Jr., and Anthony (Erin) Tran; her significant other Cuong Duong; and her grandchildren, Darren, Dennis and Danica Calderon and Xavier Tran.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home.
