Our beloved Therese Kay Gast, 65 of Wahpeton, ND, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family. Her visitation will be on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 5 pm - 7 pm, followed by a prayer service at 7 pm, at St. John's Catholic Church in Wahpeton. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:30 AM, with visitation one hour before at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Wahpeton. Fr. Robert Foertsch will officiate the service.
Therese was born on November 4, 1960, in Minneapolis, MN, to Hubert and Geraldine Kohlhase. The family moved to Long Prairie, MN, and eventually moved to Breckenridge, MN in 1972, where she started 6th grade. Therese graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1979. Therese excelled in many sports. She loved being a Breck Cowgirl.
Therese met the love of her life, Tim, in 1978. They had their first date at the Breckenridge Pavilion. They were inseparable ever since. Therese and Tim married on May 7, 1983. She had a great love for the Minnesota Vikings, as all her friends knew. Therese loved her husband Tim and their two sons, Matthew and Mason, as well as her three grandsons and her loving dog Murphy.
Therese especially loved spending summers at Ottertail Lake and winters in Arizona. She loved her yearly motorcycle trips with great friends. Therese had a heart of gold and a very humorous personality.
Therese is survived by her loving husband, Tim, of 43 years. Her two sons, Matthew Gast, Fargo, and Mason Gast, Minneapolis; grandsons, Jackson, Bentley, and Easton; brothers and sister, Kevin Kohlhase, Deb (John) Kath, Hugh (Diane) Kohlhase; sister-in-law, Darby (David) Casper; brother-in-law, Jim (Melanie) Gast; mother-in-law, Marlene Gast; and numerus nieces and nephews.
Therese was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Geraldine Kohlhase; and father-in-law, Darrell Gast.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, please make a donation to either St. John’s or St. Mary’s Schools.
