Ulrich Lovdokken

Ulrich A. "Spade" Lovdokken 85, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Sunday, November 20, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, with Rev. Jule' Ballinger officiating at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. Visitation will be one hour before the service with the family. Arrangements entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.

Ulrich Arnold Lovdokken was born December 24, 1930 at Breckenridge, MN the son of Ulrich and Anna (Geiger) Lovdokken. He grew up and attended school in Breckenridge. He was united in marriage to Cora Loessin on May 16, 1954. The couple lived in the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area and raised their four sons. Spade worked for Schweitzer's in Breckenridge and later at Wil-Rich in Wahpeton until retiring in 1995. Spade and Cora started a boarding and grooming kennel which they continue to operate for over 30 years.

Spade had a special love for animals, especially horses and dogs. For many years Spade raised and sold German Shepard's taking many to dog shows and bringing many dogs to championship level.

Spade is survived by his wife Cora, Wahpeton; four sons; Rick Lovdokken and Wade Lovdokken both of Wahpeton; Daryn (Kelly) Lovdokken, Oakdale, MN; and Vernon Lovdokken, Blaine, MN; a grandson, Hunter and granddaughter, Hannah, nephews and nieces: LeRoy Ehlert, Jim Ehlert, Arnie (Susan) Lovdokken, Lois (John) Ham and Diane (Steve) Anderson.

Spade is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Henrietta Ehlert and brothers, LaVerne , Bruce and Arnie Lovdokken.
